ad coelum refers to a legal doctrine on land ownership that indicates whoever's is the soil, it is theirs all the way to the skies/heavens above and all the way to the core of the earth/hell below. A central tenet of our winemaking philosophy is that a grapevine owns the land it sits upon and lays claim to the soils around its roots and the skies above its shoots — and the clusters represent that full soil-plant-air continuum. The resultant wine is one that strives to be the most faithful expression of that unique vine-terroir complex.
Farmed at the historical Pritchard Hill of Napa Valley at 1500ft elevation, ad coelum embraces the tradition of respecting nature and terroir, refining and producing ultimate quality wines that express the depth and complexity of the vineyard’s heavenly microclimate. This elegant Cabernet is great with grilled meats, and will benefit from decanting for 1-2 hours or extended cellaring.
