Beaulieu Vineyard, usually known as BV, is one of the most historically significant wineries in Napa's Rutherford appellation. It was founded in 1900 by Georges de Latour and Fernande de Latour. The name means "beautiful place," fitting the vineyard setting in Rutherford. BV's central importance comes from Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, a wine long regarded as a benchmark in the history of American Cabernet and often described in terms similar to an original Napa cult Cabernet.

BV's development is inseparable from legendary winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff. Tchelistcheff is widely considered one of the founding figures of modern American winemaking. At BV he promoted more scientific winemaking, cold fermentation, better cellar hygiene, and thoughtful oak use, profoundly influencing quality improvements in Napa red wine. Under his influence, Georges de Latour Private Reserve became a classic example of top Napa Cabernet, and older vintages remain important to collectors.

In trade terms, BV is essential for Napa history education and premium wine placement. It suits fine retail, classic wine lists, vertical vintage programs, and presentations to serious collectors. Compared with newer boutique wineries, BV's strengths are historical depth, technical legacy, Rutherford identity, and the long reputation of its flagship wine. A proper introduction should highlight Georges de Latour, Andre Tchelistcheff, and Rutherford style; those three lines reveal its real weight.
