HdV, short for Hyde de Villaine, is the winery created through a partnership between the Hyde family of Napa Valley and the de Villaine family of Burgundy. The background is exceptional: Hyde Vineyard is one of the most important vineyards in Carneros, while Aubert de Villaine long led Domaine de la Romanee-Conti and is one of the most respected figures in Burgundy. HdV is not simply a Burgundy name placed on a California label. It combines the cool terroir of Carneros, the Hyde family's farming knowledge, and the de Villaine family's understanding of finesse.

Hyde Vineyard lies in Carneros, a region strongly influenced by San Pablo Bay. The cool conditions are well suited to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and some Bordeaux varieties, allowing grapes to retain acidity and aroma over a long growing season. HdV's core wines include Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, and Bordeaux-style blends. The Chardonnay especially reflects the spirit of the project. It does not depend on heavy butter or overt richness; it emphasizes minerality, acidity, texture, and complexity with age. The Pinot Noir is also restrained and fine, distinct from many more fruit-forward California styles.

HdV has long been respected by sommeliers, Burgundy lovers, and serious California wine clients. In trade terms, it should be presented as a rare meeting point between Napa and Burgundy. It suits serious restaurant wine lists, collectors, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir programs, and channels seeking elegant California wines. The story is clear: one side is among the finest vineyard resources in Carneros, the other is a top Burgundian family's aesthetic involvement. Together they create a winery that builds value through detail and time rather than through exaggerated expression.
